Carlo Ancelotti would be the wrong choice for Arsenal

Arsenal is without a manager after sacking Unai Emery and  Carlo Ancelotti, 60, has emerged as a candidate to join the Gunners.

Carlo Ancelotti would be the wrong choice for Arsenal

On paper, Ancelotti is a perfect manager for Arsenal, He has won major trophies with Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea and PSG, He knows premier League and he is available for the job because he has been sacked by Napoli.

I see a lot of Arsenal fans online who would love the club to appoint Mr. Carlo Ancelotti as Arsenal permanent manager and for the reason above I can see why they see that way.

For me, he is the right man the Arsenal job and below I am going to give you my reasons why Arsenal should never appoint him.

He never had to build a team.

But if you look deep in his previous clubs, he really had a job to rebuild a team from the ground, you see what I mean, at Milan, he inherited a great side that needed few tweaks to become on of the Europe best, He was under the same circumstances when he went to Chelsea and won the premier league, the same thing happened at PSG and Real Madrid.

This is not to knock him down and stating that he is not a great manager, he is but this is not Arsenal football club needs right now.

On the contrary, Arsenal needs a huge rebuild, we need a manager with a proven record to rebuild or a new upcoming manager who can shape Arsenal’s future with new ideas and a style of play and Ancelotti is not that man.

Questionable training methods.

One of the Carlo Ancelotti failures is when he was Bayern Munich manager, there are many reports that he used to give his players a lot of free time, doing small routines in the training ground as it reached a point that some senior players at Bayern Munich had to conduct extra training sessions behind his back.

If he does that at Arsenal he will never succeed, Arsenal has a lot of football stars who are overpaid and lazy if given a chance they will skip training sessions and I don´t think that in this current Arsenal squad there are leaders who will arrange extra training sessions to impose fitness on the squad.

He is not for long term

I am not against being old, but the guy is 60, with a lot of experience it is very difficult for him to change, Arsenal needs a young vibrant manager who can inject energy and enthusiasm in the squad and also it may take a long time to rebuild this great football club.

Apart from Milan, I do not remember the time when Carlo Ancelotti stayed more than two seasons at the same club and It will take a huge effort and more than two seasons for Arsenal to start challenging for major titles again.

For those reasons, I think appointing Mr. Carlo Ancelotti as Arsenal permanent manager would be a wrong move for the Arsenal.

Europa League-Arsenal qualify top the group

tandard Liege v Arsenal FC: Group F - UEFA Europa League

Arsenal qualified top of their group in the Europa League as they drew 2-2 with Standard Liege.

Arsenal needed to avoid a 5-0 defeat in Belgium to progress to the last 32 but ended up in a first-place as Eintracht Frankfurt was beaten by Vitoria.

Freddie Ljungberg’s side had to come back from 2-0 down to earn a point and denied Liege a place in the knockout stages.

Arsenal created a number of chances in the first half but went into the break locked at 0-0 with Standard Liege.

After Emile Smith Rowe had seen his cross-shot turned away by the foot of goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart, Bukayo Saka had three good opportunities to put Arsenal ahead but failed to beat the in-form keeper.

As the half-time whistle approached, Saka saw an effort from the left of the box saved before Bodart produced another good stop to keep out Nelson.

Arsenal fell behind two minutes into the second half when Samuel Bastien’s strike took a huge deflection off Sokratis Papastathopoulos, wrong-footing goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and landing in the back of the net.

Arsenal found themselves 2-0 down in the 69th minute following another deflected effort from the hosts.

Selim Amallah’s strike from the middle of the box took a big deflection and beat Martinez.

The introduction of Gabriel Martinell and reverting back to the back four changed the game for the Arsenal as gunners started to attack actively in the last 20 minutes. Gunners then scored two goals in the space of three minutes to get back on level terms.

Alexandre Lacazette headed in after 78 minutes after a great ball from Bukayo Saka. It was Saka who scored an equalizer just three minutes later as he finished well in the 81st minute to complete the comeback.

Arsenal needed just a point to qualify but ended up topping the group as Eintracht Frankfurt lost to Vitoria.

Arsenal will find out who is their opponent in the next round of the Europa League next Monday.

The next Arsenal game will be against Premier League champions, Manchester City at the Emirates this Sunday.

Standard Liege Vs Arsenal-Give the Youth a Chance

Arsenal will play their final game of the Europa League group stage on Thursday when they take on Belgian side Standard Liege.

Arsenal had their first win in 10 games last Monday after a come-from-behind 3-1 victory against West Ham United at the London Stadium and will look to carry that momentum forward in Europe.

Arsenal is not yet qualified for the knockout stage of the Europa League and only a heft defeat of 5 goals can knock Arsenal out of the competition.

Arsenal Team News

Dani Ceballos is out with a thigh injury and is expected to return later this month. Rob Holding is doubtful for the upcoming fixture owing to his knee injury, and a late call will be made on him.

Hector Bellerin suffered a hamstring issue during the warm-up ahead of the clash against West Ham United earlier this week, and although his problem is not very serious, he might not be risked this soon, with a busy Christmas period coming up.

Kieran Tierney, Nicolas Pepe, and Granit Xhaka could also be rested for the clash against Liege.

Predicted Arsenal Lineup vs Standard Liege (4-2-3-1)

Bernd Leno is likely to be rested and Emiliano Martinez could replace him in the Arsenal lineup. The latter has done a decent job between the sticks whenever he has been called upon this season.

While David Luiz and Calum Chambers are expected to feature in the central defense, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac could be summoned to operate as the full-backs once again.

Ljungberg is an advocate of handing opportunities to the younger players, so we could see Matteo Guendouzi start alongside Joe Willock in central midfield.

Emile Smith Rowe is one of the most talented players to have emerged through Arsenal’s academy.

With 3 goals and 1 assist to his name from 4 Europa League appearances so far this campaign, Gabriel Martinelli is expected to lead the line.

Reiss Nelson has done a decent job down the left flank and the 20-year-old could start on the left side. Meanwhile, Nicolas Pepe is expected to feature on the opposite side to add quality in the final third.

Arsenal finally end winless run with fightback at West Ham

Arsenal arrived in east London on a nine-game winless run – their worst spell since 1977 – and looked set for more troubles when Angelo Ogbonna’s header took a wicked deflection and nestled in their net in 38th minute.

That was Gabrielli first goal in the premier league in his first start in the league for the Arsenal,

Arsenal took lead for the in the 66th minute after the record signing Nicolas Pepe curled home a beauty after receiving a ball from Pierre Emerick Aubamang.

Three minutes later, in 69 minutes, Pepe gave a beautiful ball to Auba and the Gabon international was able to fire home the third goal for the Arsenal.

This was the first win under the caretaker manager Freddie Ljungberg and it ended the winless run in 1o games, the worst for Arsenal since 1977.
