Arsenal vs. Manchester United-Preview

Arsenal will play the first game of the new year facing their long-time rival in Manchester United at the Emirates tonight.

The game comes at a very bad moment for Arsenal, at this point in the season I don’t know when the next win will come from. Emirates used to be a fortress and know Arsenal they have lost 3 consecutive games at the Emirates and are 12th in the league table, this is bad.

Injury Crisis

Arsenal are in injury crisis at the moment, there are rumors that Calum Chambers will be out for the rest of the season, Kieran Tierney will start training on march, Kolasinac is out as well, Sokratis had concussion so probably he won’t start today, Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin are still recovering from long term injuries and they will have medical check-up this morning to decide if they can make the squad or not.

On the good news, it seems like Granit Xhaka and Dan Ceballos will be back in the squad after participating in full training yesterday.

The game

At this point of the season, Manchester United are better than Arsenal, they won their last two games and they seem to do well when they play the so-called big teams. On the other hand, Arsenal are on the bad run, they are in 12th place on the table, the league table does not lie it has been that bad.

The good news is that in games like this form goes out the window and something happens and that is my hope for today’s game (there is nothing to suggest that Arsenal will win this game, except for the hope that they might).

Manchester United has been inconsistent this season, they had their up and down but there is one thing that has been consisted for them this season, they are very good at counter-attacking if Arsenal does not defend well on those counters, it can be a very sad start of the decade for gunners.

Predicted eleven

Due to the lack of personal, I don’t think that Arteta will make many changes from the side that played against Chelsea last weekend, the only changes I can see it is Granit Xhaka coming in for Matteo Guenzouzi and if Sokratis is not fit enough, Mustafi will be partnering David Luiz as center back pair.

This is the team I think will play today.

Score prediction

I know at the moment Manchester United are a better footballing side than us but as I said before I have a hope that Arsenal might do something and surprise them, so I am going for the first win under Arteta. Arsenal 2-1 Manchester United.
