Mesut Ozil is happy to continue to play under Arsene Wenger

Mesut Ozil has reassured  his commitment to Arsenal and says he’s happy to continue to play under Arsene Wenger, who he ranks as one of the ‘best managers in football history’.

The German playmaker has delayed contract talks for a second time with the Gunners and will wait until after Euro 2016 to discuss his future with the club.

The 27-year-old play maker signed for Arsene Wenger’s side in 2013 for a club record £42.5million and experienced his best season to date in north London under the Frenchman last season.

Wenger’s come under huge pressure from Arsenal fans in recent months after his side capitulated in the title run-in to Leicester City.

However, Ozil is keen for Wenger to stay at the club and insists what he’s done for Arsenal means he’s one of the greatest managers in the history of football.

‘At Arsenal, Arsène Wenger has shown that he is one of the best managers in history,’Ozil told France Football.

‘He has revolutionised the club and created magnificent success. I am proud and aware of the luxury I have of working for such a coach.

‘His simple discourse immediately seduced me when I was asking questions about my future in the summer of 2013. He chose the perfect words to convince me. The great strength that Wenger has is he knows how to talk to his players.

Ozil has been linked with a move back to La Liga this summer with Barcelona but the German insists he’s only focused on the Gunners after a good season at the Emirates.

‘On the pitch, I am always enjoying myself. I am lucky to play in the best league in the world and to be a certain starter at one of the best English clubs,’ continued Ozil.

‘In the Premier League, my enjoyment is very high. As long as I am in perfect physical condition.’
